Heading to the Temple

Evening Glow

Nguyen Minh Phuoc, born in 1976, graduated from the Hanoi Fine Arts College (former College des Beaux Arts d’IndoChine) in 1998 and has quickly established himself as one of the leading artists of the younger generation of Vietnamese contemporary artists. While Phuoc paints other subjects, his specialty is painting Monks, inspired by the Buddhist culture and Buddhist’s beliefs.

Each painting does exude a sense of purposes. Usually seen from the back, either alone or in small groups, Phuoc’s monks radiate energy, robes swirling as they step forward toward destiny, providing a delightful contrast with the tranquility of the subject matter and his technically excellent brushwork. Through his color compositions and spatial relationships, Phuoc creates a sense of serenity, of belonging, an insight into maybe a less material world that will undoubtedly endure "Moving Moments" features some of Nguyen Minh Phuoc’s finest works.
